What does it really mean to follow Jesus? Jesus demands our wholehearted commitment and devotion. He calls us to deny ourselves daily, take up our cross, and follow him wherever he may lead. We must proclaim the good news of Christ in the way that we live, love, work, speak, and give—in everything that we do. Jesus does not want us to make an impulsive or emotional decision to follow him but to first consider the cost and be willing to abandon our old lives, dreams, and ambitions in pursuit of something far greater. The message is very clear–we are to prioritize God and the work of the Kingdom above all else. The demands of discipleship are not light; it requires a radical shift in priorities. Are you ready to lay down your life, and pick up the life Jesus has called you to?
